Loncin LX250-8 Cruiser.

Remedies:

The LX250-8 tend to blow the regulator and/or the CDI unit. This problem is overcome by rewiring the electrical system. I am not sure about the exact rewiring details because someone else did it for me. He said something about having something directly wired to  the battery. I can imagine one could also use GN250 electrical system wiring and components rather. After my electrical change I have not had any electrical system problems apart from the one coil wire coming loose inside. More due to physical vibration than an electrical problem.

I also adapted the way the back sprocket is kept in place by using some bolts and nuts. This required drilling four holes by the rim and bolting the sprocket to it.

The workshop manual for the LX250-8 is hard to come by. I have only 16 pages of that manual. However for the engine the Suzuki GN250 manual suffices.

The LX250-8 is not a fast motorcycle, but is fun on relaxed scenic cruises on my way to a motorcycle rally or camp site. I find my one cruises best between 75 and 95 km/h.  After 100km/h this motorcycle starts to vibrate a lot. The  top speed as indicated by the booklet is 120km/h but some of these bikes are known to go faster. Going over 120km/h is not recommended since it can dramatically reduce the engine life.
